Frequently asked questions

Where is my data stored?

On your device and, if iCloud is on for Hangout Diary, in your private iCloud account. We cannot see it.

My diary isn’t syncing between devices.

Make sure both devices are signed in to the same Apple ID with iCloud turned on for Hangout Diary (Settings → your name → iCloud). Check your connection and available iCloud storage, then allow time for syncing. There is no separate sign-in inside Hangout Diary.

Why am I not getting reminders?

Check that notifications are allowed for Hangout Diary in Settings. The app sends at most one note a day, at the hour you choose.

Do I have to share my contacts, photos, or location?

No. These permissions are optional. You can add people by hand and save a memory without a photo or place. Change permissions in your device’s Settings.

Can I keep a copy of my diary?

Use the export option in the app’s Settings and save the file somewhere you control.

How do I delete my data?

Delete individual records in the app, or open Settings → Your diary data → Delete all diary data. Deletions propagate to your private iCloud and other connected devices when syncing is available. Deleting the app alone may leave its iCloud data in place. You can also manage that data in Apple’s iCloud settings.
