A reader for the typed archive

PersonalityArchive

Six hundred historical figures, read through the lens of Jungian typology. Each entry is a written essay: what the person did, how they thought, and the case for the type that fits them — argued from the record rather than asserted.

About the app

What was Napoleon actually like?

That is the question the archive exists to answer — for Napoleon, and for Cleopatra, Wu Zetian, Kant, Malcolm X, and the six wives of Henry VIII. Every figure is written up as an essay rather than reduced to four letters: what they did, how they seem to have thought, who they orbited, and then the argument for the type, made from letters, diaries and the historical record. The typing is editorial interpretation, not clinical assessment, and the app says so plainly.

What's inside

Six centuries of people, sorted by mind.

635 figures, written up

Not a database of four-letter codes. Every figure gets an essay — the life, the temperament, and the reasoning behind the type, with sources.

All sixteen types

Each type has its own page gathering everyone who shares it, alongside a plain description of what the type actually looks like in a life.

Eight cognitive functions

The machinery under the four letters. Ni, Fe, Te and the rest, each explained and each linked to the figures who lead with it.

Forty-two eras

Ancient Athens, the Mongol Empire, Tudor England, the Civil Rights Movement — each a coherent social world, not a date range.

Built to read

Adjustable text size, light and dark, and a reading position it remembers. Entries you have opened stay readable offline.
